Italia Exclusiva provided transportation to and from my grandfather's birthplace, Marsico Nuovo, and arranged for his birth record to be viewed and translated. They also arranged with the priest to have his baptismal record read and translated to us. The guide was very friendly and helpful, as was the driver. They also suggested we stay in Matera, which ended up being the highlight of our trip. The guide they arranged for us to tour Matera was amazing. I was part of a group of Americans on a private tour of Southern Italy. The tour was organized and let by Mr. Diego Donzella. The tour was unique and highly enjoyable in large part because of Mr. Donzella. He is conscientious, considerate, flexible, highly knowledgeable, and took great efforts to make the trip original, relaxed and pleasurable. He infused our experience with explanation of local customs, music, history and pre-selected, expert guides to enrich our experience beyond expectations. I'm just a gal from Cleveland who wanted to visit the village in Puglia where my grandparents came from. I've taken this trip twice with "Italia Exclusiva" and loved every minute of these tours. Diego is very professional, tends to details/very conscientious, and has a good sense of humor. I highly recommend "Italia Exclusiva”! Mike

 

Diego designed two wonderful tours for us in Italy. We made private arrangements with Diego to visit Florence, Modena, Assisi and Pisa. Diego provided insightful commentary at each location. The food was fantastic. We enjoyed authentic food (not the tourist menu most places serve). He was very flexible and accommodating (even when we wanted last minute changes while on the tour!) I’m a photography nut. Diego found great vistas for me to shoot and was very patient. We’ve been on the large “programmed” tours. Those tours do not compare to a private tour. After taking a private tour and a small group tour, we’ll never go back to a big tour. The difference in cost is minimal compared to the benefits. 
Our second tour was to Puglia to visit the area our grandparents called home. Diego thought of everything – comfortable accommodations, great food (again!), fresh water daily and interesting sites. The people were wonderful from the welcome dinner to the last reception. Diego made a special effort to find personal connections for every member of the tour. He arranged for those genealogy buffs on the tour to have time with the village records. Most importantly, he made arrangements for each one of us to meet family members. It was fantastic! Two members of our group are mobility challenged. Diego made sure that they could get around easily and not feel left out of the walking tours. The transportation was very comfortable.
We highly recommend Diego. His tours are very reasonably priced. You’ll be very comfortable and have a great time! We can’t wait to go to Italy again with Diego. Marge

 

In July 2007 we visited some small towns in Puglia with Diego. Words really can’t convey what Diego’s tour meant to us. The towns of Faeto and Celle have their own special charm, part of which is obvious, and part of which is hidden unless you know where to look for it. By visiting these towns with Diego, you get to see so many treasures that are hidden in centuries of history. For one thing, if I had visited without Diego I would have walked right by my Grandma’s first washing machine (well, it wasn’t really a machine!) without even knowing it! I feel very fortunate to have had the beautiful and unforgettable experience of being on Diego’s tour! Grazie mille, Diego!
